Pixel Dungeon
Ah yes, another rougelike. That means crippling difficulty, ascending levels, and permanent player death - so watch your step. The interface in inspired by ye olde PC RPGs, as are the pixelated graphics.
--
Pixel Dungeon is a traditional roguelike game with pixel-art graphics and simple interface. Explore the depths of Pixel Dungeon, collect useful items, fight fierce monsters to find Amulet of Yendor (surprise.) - the ultimate artifact of this game world. This is a beta and it's going to stay beta for some time, but it's fully playable. For now there're 15 levels, but I'm going to add 4-5 more levels with new monsters and items in every major release.
Soldier vs Aliens
Have you ever played Plants vs Zombies only to wish that it had a lot more in common with Starcraft? Well here ya go. Shoot aliens while wearing space armor, instead of pushing up daisies.
--
You are the last man standing. One soldier against a swarm of violent aliens. Hold your position fighting off wave after wave of invaders and clear the area of aliens. Switch off your brain and grab your weapons: rifle, shotgun, railgun, laser, grenades, flame thrower You have only one obligation: to kill everything... It’s going to be a carnage and that's exactly what you need.
Briquid Free
Briquid tasks its players with transporting some strangely angular water to a separate space. Yup, it's just like Where's My Water and Where's My Perry with bricks, but won't make you feel like a kid when playing it. $4 is a bit steep for a "me too" title, but there are plenty of levels, and the game gets extra points for a passable Russian accent in the trailer.
--
A new puzzle sensation has arrived and it’s called Briquid. Build bricks, remove them, or change the direction of gravity to get the water to the reservoir. All you need is the touch of your finger and lots of brainpower to complete all 100 fun and challenging levels.
Robo5
We featured Robo 5, a vertical platformer in the vein of Q*bert, in our last gaming roundup. Now it's out of its
Amazon exclusivity and available on the Play Store, like all God-fearing apps should be.
--
Robo5 is a 3D action puzzle game that gives you control of a tiny robot climbing a fearsome mountain of boxes in a strange decaying future world. Play it now on your Android device. Enjoy hours of mind-bending fun as you help Robo #5 escape from the freezing cold lab where our mechanical hero begins his adventure. Marvel at the steampunk charm as you guide Robo on a journey of self discovery and puzzle-solving.
Ivory Tower Defenders
"The Ivory Tower" is a usually derogatory metaphor applied to academia and the culture of higher learning. In this game, the metaphor collapses somewhat. Most of the time it's pretty hard to get students to come to class, but these teachers seem to be actively discouraging it, through the subtle use of thrown textbooks. It's a standard tower defense game with professors and TAs used offensively - you know the drill.
--
TAs, Professors, and Deans, oh my. All the epic drama of college in one strategy game. The Ivory Tower is being overrun by hordes of students. It's up to you to defend the University by placing Ivory Tower Defenders in key locations on campus - the Lecture Hall, the Library, the Seminar Room, and at the Graduation Ceremony. Each beautifully rendered location requires a different strategy as your Defenders launch blue books, dissertations, and academic suspensions at wave after wave of incorrigible students.
Word Up Dog
Your tolerance for this game will be directly proportional to your ability to watch Flavor Flav for extended periods of time. Get past the hip-hop meets Puppy Surprise theme, and you'll find a mix of Dig Dug and Speak'n'Spell, most definitely aimed at kids. The app gets extra points for offering its mechanics in four different languages: French, German, "Queen's English" and "Hip-Hop English."
--
A lost puppy finds himself stuck underground, and must dig his way out while spelling words with the letters he finds. Find your way to the bottom of 7 unique levels, collecting items and bonuses and meeting a crazy cast of hip-hop slang-slinging animals along the way. Think you got what it takes, Dog? You ain't gonna know till you try. Word up.
DarkHunt HD: Brutality
Hunting at night is illegal in most of the United States. Luckily, when creating a Duck Hunt rip-off, one doesn't necessarily need to follow the rulings of local municipalities and game wardens. In DarkHunt, you've got a shotgun and a flashlight, and a sky full of ducks to kill. This is the "brutal" version - if you want a more tame interpretation,
check out the standard game.
--
Duck hunting game like you've never seen before (and not only because it's hard to see in the dark ;)). Point and shoot with your flashlight-equipped shotgun, survive whole night, buy upgrades, beat the best online score. [ This brutal version of DarkHunt is recommended for adult players. For children take a look on our original DarkHunt HD. :) ]
The Rolling Dead
You like marble games. You like zombies, or at least you like killing them. And you like lots and lots of blood. This game is for you.
--
“The Walking Dead” meets tilt gaming in this insane splatter fest of zombie killing mayhem. When the zombie apocalypse first struck, the residents of Tilt Labyrinth constructed traps to try to kill them, brought out the heavy weapons to try to blow them away, and invented complicated doors and switches to try to confuse them. Nothing worked. Everyone is a zombie now. Everyone except our hero, Rebound. Now Rebound has to escape while fighting hoards of Zombies and navigating through all the failed traps that were left behind.
Ball vs. Zombies
Is there an echo in here? This one's more of a marble game and less of a top-down shooter, but you get the idea.
--
"Roll the ball and break some zombie bone." Tilt your device to accelerate heavy stone ball and crush incoming zombies before they steal your lives. Fast-paced action game with accelerometer-powered controls, physics engine, HD graphics, 3D parallax effects, and the last but not the least - crossplatform online score. Will you be able to beat iOS players?
Ark of the Ages
The XSEED series of console RPGs has been a sleeper hit with the right kind of gamer, and their entry on Android is nothing if not ambitious. Full 3D graphics and a mobile-friendly control scheme are commendable. But just like EA, the developers of Ark of the Ages seem to think that "mobile" means "pay for everything," with long-standing RPG conventions like maps and transport spells costing real money. The game isn't even free.
--
Ark of the Ages, a fully 3D action RPG, is now available to download and play. Featuring a fun touchscreen-based battle system, an enchantment system using photos to power-up characters, and a companion system where strength is increased with the number of friends, the game is loaded with new and innovative features. Challenge the Tower of Magic and claim the legacy of the Great Mage Sorienz.
Real Racing 3
The inclusion of Real Racing in this list is by no means a recommendation, it's more of a cautionary tale. Yes, the graphics and gameplay are pretty great - with the nigh limitless resources of EA, that's not surprising. Of course, EA has to get those resources somewhere, and that's where things get ugly. In Real Racing 3, you'll have to wait after nearly every race to repair your car, change the oil, or even
get gas... or you can pay up real money to power your fake car. The level of greed on display in this game is almost disgusting, and it shows that EA won't stop until you're paying ten cents a bullet in Crysis 5. If you're outside North America and so inclined, you can
download the game here. But don't. Please.
--
Hyper-realistic. Pure fun. And FREE. Real Racing 3 sets a new standard for mobile racing games – it really must be experienced to be believed. Trailblazing new features include officially licensed tracks, an expanded 22-car grid, and over 45 meticulously detailed cars from makers like Porsche, Lamborghini, Dodge, Bugatti, and Audi. Plus, racing with friends gets kicked into another dimension with the reality-bending Time Shifted Multiplayer™ (TSM) technology.
WTF Games
Dynamite
If you've seen the Happy Tree Friends series of animations or TV shows, you know what you're getting into here. There's enough gory, psychopathic violence in those happy little critters to make Eric Cartman cringe. Note: This app serves up all kinds of unwanted ads, even on your homescreen. Most users probably won't appreciate this. Consider yourself warned.
--
Happy Tree Friends + Dynamite = Good Times. I promise.
Election Thief
I honestly don't know what this thing is. A political statement? A bad webcomic gone wrong? A Black Panthers recruitment drive? You be the judge.
--
Objective: Catch the thief. The Election Thief. Control Omu, the ordinary citizen, to track down and catch the Election Thief. Jump from platform to platform in pursuit of the fleeing bad-guy who has stolen the votes during an election. Find out what will happen to the Election Thief. Will you catch him? Or will you let him get away?
